Janie McCauley

 

Janie McCauley has been based in the Bay Area with the Associated Press since August 2002, focusing her baseball coverage on the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics. She also covers the San Francisco 49ers, college basketball and other sporting events. McCauley has covered four Olympics, the Summer Games in Beijing and London, and the Winter Games in Torino and Vancouver. A mom of two young girls, McCauley is originally from tiny Leavenworth, Washington, in the apple country.

 

 

 

Tom Meschery
Tom
Meschery was born in Harbin China and spent WWII in a refugee camp in Japan. He has published four books of poetry, Over the Rim, Nothing we Lose Can be Replaced, Some Men, and most recently SWEAT: New and Selected Poems About Sports, as well as three novels, She's Got Game, The Kid Has Hops, and Mr. Dolby's Dream. Meschery led the Saint Mary's College basketball team to the Elite Eight in the NCAA, Division I Championship in 1959. He played for ten years in the National Basketball Association for the Golden State Warriors and the Seattle Supersonics, where his number 14 was retired by the Warriors. Meschery was selected as the Saint Mary's Player of the Century and was inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame. He lives in Sacramento with his wife, artist Melanie Marchant Meschery. .

 

 

Mary Volmer

 

 Mary Volmer played four years of college basketball before attending the University of Wales as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. She completed an MFA in Creative Writing at Saint Mary’s College of California thanks to the Chester Aaron and Agnes Butler Scholarships. Her nonfiction has appeared in FullCourtPress.com, Women's Basketball Magazine, and NPR's "this i believe" series. Her first novel, Crown of Dust, was published in 2010, and her next novel is on the way. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
