Marks of Distinction: Student Achievements
- Five members of Saint Mary's fall 2008 sports teams were named to the 2008 WCC All-Academic Team in January 2009. This year's honorees were men's soccer players Jordan Grider and Corey Heldreth, women’s volleyball players Megan Burton and Shannon Lowell, and women’s cross country runner Karrie Hagedorn. - Achim Christner was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Eight First Team in 2008 following his stellar academic and athletic achievements. Christner accumulated a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Business Administration with a concentration on finance. The German native finished his undergraduate degree in three years, and will continue his Saint Mary's tennis career next season while pursuing his graduate degree. Read more…
- Eric Giannini was selected for a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue two passions he developed as an undergraduate at Saint Mary's College: Russian and geometry. Giannini spent 2007 and 2008 studying at Kazan State University in Tatarstan, where he worked on translating an article by Russian mathematician Nikolai Lobachevsky. Read more…
- Skylar Covich was one of 30 students from hundreds of applicants to receive a national scholarship from the National Federation of the Blind in 2007. Covich submitted an autobiography focusing on his accomplishments at Saint Mary's as well as recommendations from his professors. Covich was also named to the National Federation of the Blind's Board of Directors for the San Francisco region. Read more…
