safety tips
Although Saint Mary's College is set in Moraga, which tends to be a safe area, it never hurts to take extra precautions when walking after dark on campus. We have provided some safety tips that will help you when walking on campus after hours.
Tips for Walking on Campus
- Try to walk with 2 or more people
- Carry a flashlight and a whistle
- Stay on lit paths and sidewalks
- Simply be aware of your surroundings
- When you get to your Residence Hall make sure the exterior doors are closed and locked
Emergency/Courtesy Phones
The College has installed emergency/courtesy phones throughout campus. You can find them in the residence halls and some parking lots. You can use these phones for emergencies, to dial outside of the campus, or to call others on campus especially in the following situations:
- Call Public Safety for an escort to your room
- Report suspicious behavior or unsafe conditions on campus
- If you are sick or injured
Parking After Dark
Although it is not always easy to find parking in well-lit areas, you can always carry a flashlight or ask a Public Safety Officer to escort you to your room from the parking lot.
Public Safety is your campus resource, and we want to know additional ways to serve you. If you have any questions or suggestions please call us at 631-4282.
