Expanded Bus Service
In an effort to accommodate students’ transportation needs, Saint Mary’s College along with the Central Contra Costa Transit Authority (CCCTA) will begin late night and Sunday bus service on March 1, 2008.
Designed as a pilot program, the GAEL RAIL will begin running every hour on the hour to and from the Lafayette BART station via Moraga Road. The 15-person passenger bus will offer “flag stops” which allow students to flag down a bus and get on or off the bus even between scheduled stop locations. The service is free to students—all they need to do is show their student ID. The service is also open to the general public, but will cost the regular $1.75 fare.
Buses will run after the regular scheduled CCCTA bus schedule ends — from 9:30 p.m. to 1:25 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, and noon to 1:25 a.m. on Sunday. The schedule is designed to have a bus waiting at the Lafayette BART when the last train arrives at 1:25 a.m. so the students can have a seamless ride back to campus.
