composting program
The Legacy Garden near Claeys Hall South has three compost bins made of broken pallets. They turn out hundreds of cubic feet of compost. A minimum of 4 cubic feet of kitchen waste is collected daily for composting. The fruit and vegetable scraps from the food service are combined with leaves collected by the buildings and grounds crew in the late fall to create compost, keeping these items out of the waste stream. The compost becomes a rich soil amendment.
