vice president for Mission & Dean for Faculty Development
As Vice President for Mission Carole Swain works within the College to promote the Lasallian, Catholic and liberal arts traditions through events such as the annual Academic Convocation, faculty/staff retreats, workshops, institutes and celebrations such as De La Salle Week. Serving on a variety of councils and committees, she promotes communication about mission through connecting the work of the Office of Mission, Campus Ministry, Cummins Institute, CILSA, Diversity Committee and the Social Justice Coordinating Committee.
Within the De La Salle Christian Brothers District of San Francisco and Region of the North America and International Institute, she represents the College on Lasallian school boards, councils and task forces and was a delegate to the 2005 Regional and 2006 International Assemblies on Mission.
As Dean for Faculty Development, she chairs the Committee on Teaching that sponsors faculty orientations, rank and tenure workshops, scholarship forums, book talks, course evaluation reviews and services to promote teaching and learning. The Faculty Development Scholarship Fund committee awards fund for faculty scholarship and professional development as well as funds for student/faculty collaborative research.
