student profile
The High Potential Program seeks to enroll first year freshman students who may have not demonstrated their full potential for academic success due to the challenges of adverse social, economic, educational and personal factors. Through letters of recommendation, thoughtful application responses and personal statements, the admissions office looks for evidence to determine a student's ability to be successful at SMC.
All High Potential Program students must have a minimum cumulative 2.30 academic GPA with 750 SAT (critical reading and math) or 15 ACT composite. Students must be first generation college bound (i.e. neither parent received a four-year 4yr B.S./B.A. college degree from a U.S. college or university).
