Every month, the Academic Honor Council holds Policy Meetings to discuss promoting integrity, revising the Code, voting on review board matters, and much more.
Part of being a member of the Academic Honor Council is attending the monthly Policy Meetings. This is crucial time for things to get done because it is one of the few times the Council Members meet as a whole and discuss important topics. At these meetings there is a long agenda that consists of "Gael Hugs" awarded to members that go above and beyond, updates on things such as our website, Council social events, new faculty or student members, and most importantly, we inform the Council of changes we have made since our last Policy Meeting. The rest of our agenda mainly consists of discussions regarding changing or adding wording in our Academic Honor Code or we discuss current cases that need to be brought to the Council's attention as a learning experience or when we need to vote on an case appeal matter. Ultimately, our Policy Meetings are a chance for members to have an openly respectful atmosphere to share any suggestions they may have. We take these meetings seriously because our decisions are made as a cohesive group, not just by one individual.
Without this council, the Honor Code would not be what it is today: unique and awesome.
