How do I make a pledge?
I am not a SMC student; can I still pledge?
I signed my pledge card, now what?
How do I fulfill my 10 hours of service?
I already do service; does that count?
Is it too late to pledge?
I finished my service; now what?
How do I make a pledge?
Pick up a Pledge Form at CILSA's 1st Floor Ferroggiaro Office or download and print a pledge form. I am not a SMC student; can I still pledge?
Absolutely! In fact, we are striving to engage all members of the SMC community to make an impact. Faculty, staff, alumni, community partners are all encouraged to PLEDGE TO SERVE. Even if you're not a member of the SMC community, you are welcome and encouraged to pledge to serve!
I signed my pledge card, now what?
1. Find a service opportunity
-CILSA sponsored and organized service opportunities
-Recommended Projects with a CILSA Community Partner.
-Utilize Cal Corps Public Service Center Volunteer Database to find opportunities.
2. Join CILSA facebook group and/or follow CILSA on twitter to stay informed about opportunities offered through CILSA.
3. Share your story on February 16, 2010 at the CILSA Anniversary Celebration and during De La Salle Week April 26-30, 2010.
How do I fulfill my 10 hours of service?
Any way that you want to! There is no right or wrong way to fulfill your hours. CILSA has compiled a list of organizations we work with in the Bay Area that needs volunteers, but you are welcome to volunteer elsewhere! Schools, churches, non-profit organizations, libraries, community gardens, and shelters are all great places to start. Also, there are virtual volunteer opportunities.
There are many online databases that list volunteer opportunities by zip code, date, length of commitment, and interest area. If none of those resources work, visit the CILSA student leaders at 1st Floor Ferroggiaro Hall, email cilsa@stmarys-ca.edu, or call (925) 631-4975.
I already do service, does that count?
YES! If you are already involved in service, you can continue what you are doing and put forth hours you volunteer this semester toward your Pledge. You are not required to start or join a new project unless you would like to!
Is it too late to pledge?
No! Our goal is to have everyone complete their 10 hours of service by April 30, 2009, the final day of De la Salle week at Saint Mary’s College of California. Click here for Pledge Form.
I finished my service, now what?
Congratulations!
CILSA will host a celebration during De La Salle Week (April 26-30, 2010) to share stories about our service, talk about what we learned, and discuss other ways to serve the community.
Make another pledge! Continue to serve and learn in your community.
