visiting executive program
The Visiting Executive Program brings accomplished executives to Saint Mary’s College to work with faculty and students and foster a mutually benefical relationship. The executive learns from faculty and students and gains understanding of academic resources, while Saint Mary’s College is invigorated by the executive's practical experience and leadership.
Visiting Executive Profile
The executive is well known and respected in the business community. The executive has an appreciation for the role of business education and the value of "building bridges" between Saint Mary’s and the business community.
Duration of the Program
The executive is associated with the College for as short as 1 week, to as long as 1 semester as jointly determined by the executive and the School of Economics and Business Administration.
Components of the Program
Seminar Roundtable:
The executive participates in seminars with faculty and others on topics decided in advance. These seminars are typically on important issues that impact the social, political, or economic environment of business. Lively debate, and mutual learning occurs when the perspective of the executive is combined with the perspectives of various disciplines (politics, economics, science, literature, etc.).
Participation in the Classroom:
The executive is invited to participate in various classes in the SEBA curriculum during his/her term. The role the executive plays in the classes and the particular courses in which s/he is involved is be determined by mutual agreement/interest of the executive and faculty.
Student Mentoring:
The executive is available for appointments with students to serve as a resource for advice regarding classes, course projects, internships, and job searches.
Address to the Faculty:
At the end of the executive’s stay s/he gives a presentation to the faculty at a SEBA Forum to close out the program. 1 specific issue that the executive should address is his/her evaluation of SEBA programs.
Address to the Community:
The executive is invited to give a lecture on a topic of his/her choice relevant to the current business climate. This can be a major event, publicized to the entire campus community, as well as the Contra Costa County community at large. Press can be invited to report on the event.
Compensation
Stipends are provided.
