The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
The Business Administration program provides a broad education in the business sciences. Studies in marketing, business strategy, and organization theory emphasize the behavioral, structural, and contextual components of this challenging discipline. Students also receive a solid grounding in business law, financial management, and business operations. Electives include a survey of ethical, social, and political issues in business; an overview course in international business; and advanced courses in finance, law, and marketing.
The Marketing Concentration
A central purpose of the Marketing Concentration is to enable undergraduate students to acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of the broad context in which marketing decisions should be made. Thus, in addition to taking specific marketing courses and other business related courses, the curriculum includes an interdisciplinary component, intended to familiarize students with external macroenvironmental conditions and other factors that must be taken into account in order to formulate sound strategic marketing plans.
The International Concentration
The International Concentration is designed for students whose career view extends beyond U.S. borders. It provides an opportunity to study other countries, languages, and cultures, and includes the experience of living abroad, generally during the student's Junior year. Admission requires departmental approval.
The Honors Program in Financial Services
The program is designed for students motivated to explore critical business disciplines in greater depth, focus, and intensity. The program utilizes the financial services industries as its integrating theme and is intended to prepare students for professional careers in a variety of fields, including finance, as well as for graduate study in business, law, and other disciplines.
The Minor in Business Administration
A student may earn a Business Administration minor in the School of Economics and Business Administration. As an intellectual discipline, a minor in business administration may have strong appeal for students who like working with groups and with other individuals and who enjoy issue and problem solving, are comfortable with relative solutions, and willing to shoulder responsibility.
