Why the executive mba at smc?
An Outstanding Faculty
Our faculty includes some of the brightest minds in business today. Their credentials include MBAs, Ph.Ds and other advanced degrees from top institutions in the U.S. and around the world. Our faculty includes individuals who lead corporations, sets international policy and publish books and articles.
Study Groups
We foster cooperation and teamwork through study groups, which students form at the beginning of the program and maintain throughout the program's duration. While much of the curriculum involves individual work, study groups are often make team presentations or contribute to shared projects.
Pass/Fail/Honors Grading
We use a pass/fail grading system to focus on substantive issues rather than competition for grades. An Honors grade may also be given to students whose academic performance and contribution to the class are extraordinary. Students who earn five or more Honors grades graduate with honors.
Strategic Management Capstone
The final quarter of the Executive MBA Program consists of two coordinated courses that emphasize strategic thinking and analysis. Business Strategy introduces students to the issues involved in competitive positioning and strategy implementation, and Managing Global Competition focuses on transnational competition and strategy.
Special Opening and Closing Sessions
The Opening Session — usually held on the Moraga campus during the week prior to start of the program — introduces students to each other and the program. The Closing Session is held at the end of the Capstone Quarter and brings the Executive MBA Program to a celebratory end.
