the reading and language arts leadership program
Established in 1978, the Reading Leadership Program develops outstanding reading educators through academic and field-based experiences in diverse settings. You'll acquire the skills needed to meet the literacy needs of educators, students, parents, and communities in California's multiethinc and multilingual school settings. The mission of the Reading and Language Arts Leadership Specialist Credential Program is to prepare competent professional reading educators and ensure that every California learner achieves full literacy.
"At SMC, you're not a number; you're recognized, heard and supported. There's a solid commitment to provide the best program possible and to truly meet your needs. Graduate studies at the School of Education require hard work, but it's definitely worth it. I've transformed from teacher to literacy training coordiantor specialist. District personnel now thoroughly respect my recommendations regarding instructional practice and I'm much more effective at helping others achieve academic success."
- Edy O'Dell, Reading & Language Arts Program graduate student
