In this time of turmoil and uncertainty, there is a need for leadership practices that support human flourishing. The development of leadership requires engaging in transformative practices that address the whole person and enable personal coherence, balance, and well-being. A wide range of practices--that address the mind, body, emotions, soul, imagination and spirit --is necessary to develop different facets of the self. Human flourishing arises when we are able to balance all these aspects of the self – mind, body, emotions, soul and spirit. Leadership entails bringing this sense of well-being and aliveness to ourselves and to others.
This two-day workshop will introduce participants to a variety of non-traditional practices that touch upon whole person learning. The workshop will engage participants in an inquiry into an array of transformative practices, with a special focus on yoga, guided meditation, Reiki, and dream work. Participants will have an opportunity to experiment with these modalities, discovering the practices with which they most resonate.
ANTICIPATED WORKSHOP OUTCOMES AND BENEFITS:
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOGA?
Yoga is a whole person experience that opens us up to new understandings of what it means to be an “embodied” being. It aligns body, mind and spirit through practices of physical movement (asana) coordinated with the breath (pranayama) . Yoga puts us in touch with our aliveness and our wholeness so that we experience well-being, balance, and relief from stress. Yoga also helps the busy mind and the restless body to find the stillness required to enter into deeper practices of meditation and gain insight into our true nature.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF GUIDED MEDITATION?
Guided meditation offers stress reduction, physical relaxation, and a state of peace and calm. Participants frequently notice clarity of mind, a reinforcement of positive attitudes and depth in prayer. Guided meditation offers a connection to intuition for problem solving and enhanced development of creativity,
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REIKI?
The knowledge that an unseen energy flows through all living things and is connected directly to quality of health and well-being has been part of the wisdom of many cultures since ancient times, and is currently becoming integral in the paradigm of the new physics. Reiki (ray-kee) creates balance by bringing the individual system into alignment with the universal, generating physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being. Reiki can help to calm down our stress, enable balance, and make life more joyful.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DREAMWORK?
Dreams come nightly as unedited expressions of the soul's stirrings, longings, sufferings, and potential. Active engagement with our dreams through the cultivation of transformative dream practices offers a pathway to tap into and realize this soul potential. This workshop offers practices that facilitate exploring the role of dreams in catalyzing the soul’s unfolding toward its deeper potentials. Participants are encouraged to bring a written version of one or more recent or memorable dreams.
