Workshop Description: The confluences of ecological, economic and energetic crises require a coherent roadmap for a globally interconnected and interdependent civilization. We need knowledge, perspectives and practices that will create new dynamics; new ways of fostering the legacy by which we will be remembered, of stewarding the abundance of our living environment, of relating considerately to each other, and of creating new habits of mind and heart. Beyond sustainability lies the domain of life affirming, future creating, opportunity increasing leadership; of learning to embody new ways of thinking, doing, making and being that we incorporate in our essence so as to enact a new narrative of life.
This workshop will invite you to take a new look at leadership and the implications of an evolutionary perspective for the future. Rather than perpetuating leadership practices grounded in 20th century mindset, evolutionary leadership fosters a new stage in human and social development.
In this workshop, you will learn about the mindset, the skill set, and the heart set of evolutionary leadership, and in the process, develop an action-oriented narrative by which to give shape and substance to your change management initiatives beyond sustainability: you will learn what it takes to become stewards of evolutionary development. This workshop integrates knowledge, dialogue and experiential exercises to help you incorporate into your life a broader understanding and deeper practice of leadership. You will apply the concepts and tools learned in the workshop to a project or situation that is meaningful to you.
Presenters: Kathia Castro Laszlo, Ph.D., and Alexander Laszlo, Ph.D., are Co-Founders of Syntony Quest. They catalyze leadership and learning opportunities for individuals and their communities through programs and projects that foster evolutionary learning communities and evolutionary development. Through participatory action research, teaching, and consulting, they empower people with the competencies to engage in self-directed sustainable development. In 2002, Kathia and Alexander received the Förderpreis Akademischer Klub award of the University Of St. Gallen Switzerland, for their work in social innovation and sustainable development, and were finalists for the 2003 Beyond Gray Pinstripes award of the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute for their educational work in sustainable business.
