Because the L&CS program is preparing students for active citizenship in the 21st Century, it includes in its curriculum a focus on the principles, practices, and values that define this country, the United States of America. L&CS students encounter "American" readings in each of their Forum courses, especially Forum 1 (where they re-examine the Constitution and study issues of poverty and race as they affect residents of this country), and Senior Forum (where they explore what it means to be part of our country's democratic government and lifestyle and to engage in democratic practices)
