the environment
L&CS students explore not only the complexities of our human connections within local and global communities, but also the significance of our connections to our non-human environment. Especially in Forum 2, we examine the ways that cultural values often determine our relationship to the natural world, and the implications of our various interactions with the biosphere as caretakers, consumers, destroyers, protectors. We look to the future of the environment and apply problem-solving skills to issues such as air and water pollution, resource management, and biodiversity. Students explore systems thinking as a way of better understanding the natural world and the means for achieving ecological balance.
