The Liberal & Civic Studies Program has three different tracks for the major. Click on each of the tracks listed below to see a sample course schedule. Work with your advisor to make sure you meet all the requirements for your L&CS track and your minor field.
- Civic Track is designed for students who wish to prepare themselves for a career in public life, such as politics, law, business, social work, community service, etc.
- Education Track is designed for students planning to earn a Multiple Subject teaching credential.
- Teachers for Tomorrow (TFT) Track is a 5 year program created in conjunction with the graudate Multiple Subject Program. This program is designed for students who know as freshman they want to become elementary school teachers, who know they want to enroll in the credential program in the School of Education at SMC, and who wish to combine their undergraduate liberal arts courses with a carefully planned sequence of teacher-education coursework. Students complete their B.A. and their teaching credential, and have the option of earning a Masters in Arts in their 5th year.
