Information for GLD19, GLD20, and GLD21
Overview
Commencement for the SMC graduate and adult programs in the School of Liberal Arts (of which we are a part), Kalmanovitz School of Education, and School of Science will be held Sunday, May 23, 2010 in McKeon Pavilion on the campus of Saint Mary’s College. The day will begin at 10 am with an M.A. in Leadership graduate and faculty breakfast, followed by rehearsal at 12 noon (for approximately one hour), and then the ceremony beginning promptly at 2:00 pm. A champagne reception for graduates and guests will immediately follow the ceremony in the Soda Center. See the “On Graduation Day” section below for timing throughout the day.
Caps, Gowns, and Hoods
Caps, gowns, and hoods will be ordered and reserved for graduates by height, according to the RSVP forms received. Once Caps and Gowns are in our Rheem office, graduates will receive an email with info about pick-up from Rheem in early May or on the day. Hoods will be distributed on the day of Commencement.
On Graduation Day
For those participating in this year’s commencement ceremony, please arrive to McKeon Pavilion by 12:00 pm and listen for instructions. All graduates must attend a rehearsal which begins promptly at 12:15 pm. Attending rehearsal is a very important part of preparing for a memorable graduation. Rehearsal will be complete shortly after 1:00 pm and you will have time to visit your guests before you return to the formation area again at 1:40 pm. Please be on time as we will not wait for you if you are late! Seating in McKeon Pavilion will be limited to people with disabilities until after the rehearsal is complete. The rehearsal and the ceremony will start promptly as scheduled.

- 12:00 p.m. Assemble for rehearsal in McKeon Pavilion
- 12:15 p.m. Rehearsal begins (approximately 1 hour)
- 1:00 p.m. Guests arrive
- 1:40 p.m. Learners return to formation area in McKeon
- 2:00 p.m. Commencement begins (approximately 1.5 hours)
- 3:30 p.m. Champagne reception in the Soda Center (approx. 1.5 hours)
Guests
Graduates are allowed an unlimited number of guests at Commencement. Guests will be allowed to enter McKeon to be seated following the rehearsal at about 1:00 or 1:15 pm. However, guests with disabilities will be allowed early seating. You may want to suggest your guests visit the chapel or walk around campus, if they arrive with you and you are occupied with rehearsal. You will be available to visit following rehearsal until 1:40 pm when you return to the formation area before Commencement.

Personalized announcements, “thank you” cards, and rings may be ordered from Jostens by calling 1-800-353-5299, or by visiting their web site at www.shop.Jostens.com. For the announcements, our unique degree name, Master of Arts in Leadership, does not appear in the pop-up menu of common degree names. You may select “Other” from the menu and type in our degree name.

The 2010 Graduate and Professional Programs Commencement speaker will be announced soon.
Location of Campus and McKeon Pavillion
Campus is located at 1928 Saint Mary’s Road in Moraga. McKeon Pavillion is D12 on the campus map.
