dance
The dance program seeks students with a passion to move, dance, and be creative. Dance majors and minors study modern dance and ballet technique, dance history, choreography, and criticism and analysis. African Dance, Ballet Folklorico, Jazz, Pointe, Tap, Pilates, and Yoga are offered to provide a wider range of technique, and students will enrich their knowledge further by taking classes in music and theatre. Call Professor Cathy Davalos at (925) 631-4824 for information about the Dance Company or other opportunities to pursue dance studies at Saint Mary’s College.

The Saint Mary's College Dance Company
Professor Cathy Davalos, Artistic Director of the Davalos Dance Company, and Professor Dana Lawton, a ten-year member of JaniceGarrett and Dancers, offer dance students the opportunity to perform with the Saint Mary’s College Dance Company (SMCDC), now in its 10th year. From September to May, Company members experience what it means to be a professional dancer by going through training, choreography, and performance. Students in the dance program work with professional dancers and choreographers from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to Davalos and Lawton, Paco Gomes, Janice Garrett, Nina Haft, Stacey Printz, and Randee Paufve have created new works for the SMCDC.
