internships and careers
Students in Saint Mary's Theology & Religious Studies department have gone on to graduate programs at such schools as Harvard and the University of Notre Dame. Some are teachers, and others have combined their understanding of religion and culture with the world of business. But the study of religion is more closely associated with preparation for life than for a specific career. When you explore religious questions of great importance, you're better prepared for a life of continual growth-not just in knowledge, but also in wisdom.
Through the Christian Service Internship, led by Theology & Religious Studies faculty members, you might assist a nonprofit agency serving the poor, a shelter for battered women, or an orphanage-and come to more fully understand the Christian service tradition. This Jan Term volunteer experience might take place in the Bay Area, in another urban or rural area, or even outside the United States.
