The Mary Doyle Springer Award
The Mary Doyle Springer Award is the senior thesis award for the Women's Studies Program. The award was named for Mary Doyle Springer, one of the first faculty members at Saint Mary's College of California and the first tenured woman on campus. Mary Doyle Springer gave over 30 years of service to the College, worked tirelessly to bring women students to the campus in the early 70's, and helped found the Women's Studies program. In May 2007 Malia McClurg was named the first recipient of the award for her thesis on female mystics.
