minor requirements
Students in Environmental Science and Studies can choose from three minors: Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, and Earth Science.
The Minor in Environmental Studies
Environmental Studies minors are required to take eight courses:
- Biology 50 General Biology
- Chemistry 60 Urban Environmental Issues
- Biology 125 General Ecology;
- EES 92 Introduction to Environmental Studies; and
- Four social science/humanities courses from the major electives.
Students pursuing a major or minor in Environmental Studies may fulfill their AreaB requirements with courses listed above and may use courses in Economics or Politics towards their Area C requirement.
The Minor in Environmental Science
Environmental Science minors are required to take six courses:
- Biology 50 General Biology
- EES 92 Introduction to Environmental Sciences
One of the Following:
- Chemistry 60 Urban Environmental Issues
- EES 40/41 Geology
- EES 100 Hydrology
One of the following:
- Biology 113 Marine Biology
- Biology 144 Botany
- Biology 146 Ecophysiology
- Biology 142 California Flora and Communities
Two of the following:
- Biology 152 Conservation Science
- Biology 125 General Ecology
- Biology 142 California Flora and Communities
- Biology 119 Research Design and Biostatistics
- EES 110 Geographic Information Systems
The Minor in Earth Science
Earth Science minors are required to take five courses:
- EES 40 Geology and the Earth
- EES 50 Historical Geology
- EES 100 Hydrology
- EES 110 Geographic Information Systems
- EES 140 Environmental Geology – Natural Disasters
