More than 70 members of the Saint Mary's community gathered on April 20 to learn more about the achievements of the 2007-2008 school year in the School of Science.
Dr. Reza Zadno, CEO of Visiogen, Inc. and member of the School of Science Advisory Board, delivered the keynote address.
Zadno discussed Visiogen’s development of an intra-ocular lens to treat individuals with cataracts or other forms of lens damage. This lens can actually use the eye’s own internal mechanisms to focus, offering improved vision prospects compared to traditional treatment options, such as cataract surgery.
Science Day guests also toured the science facilities at Brousseau and Galileo Hall, including displays on molecular modeling, earthquake monitoring and invasive plant species.
The School of Science has already started planning next year’s Science Day, which will bring prospective students from local high schools to campus for a series of demonstrations, classes and speakers.
