Steve Bachofer named co-director of SENCER
During the symposium on Capitol Hill, Dr. Steve Bachofer /(Chemistry) /was named co-director [with Amy Shachter of Santa Clara University] of the Western regional center of SENCER. SENCER is the signature program of the National Center for Science and Civic Engagement (NCSCE), a research center affiliated with Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. SENCER is a faculty development and science education reform program that has been supported by the National Science Foundation since 2000. SENCER programs engage students in science and mathematics by focusing coursework on real world problems. Ben Davis named visiting scholar at MSRI
Associate Professor of Mathematics Ben Davis has been awarded a Visiting
Scholar position for Fall 2008 at the Mathematical Sciences Research
Institute in Berkeley, CA.
Jim Sauerberg named editor of Minifocus
Mathematics Professor Jim Sauerberg has been named as the editor of
Minifocus, the publication of the Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii
Section of the Mathematical Association of America.
