How Do I Apply?
Scientific research is fun and exciting, but requires hard work and determination. If you are interested in learning more about this unique Saint Mary’s College experience, please attend the information meeting in February. Make sure to read through all the information on this website, including the rules, paying special attention to all the deadlines listed in the timeline. Next, decide whether you are interested in developing your own research plan, or if you prefer to work with a particular professor on his/her research. (See the sample research proposals for examples of each kind of research project.) Consider the faculty research interests to help you choose the most appropriate professor to mentor you through the application process and the research project. If you need help or advice in choosing a professor, feel free to check with the Dean of Science, or any professor you know in the school.
The application consists of a Student Interest Form and the Registar's Certification Form, followed by the Student Application Form, including the Budget Request Form, and the research proposal. Your mentor will provide guidance on the research proposal and budget, and he/she will need to submit the Faculty Recommendation Form, so be sure to start early!
