“Commencement” vs. “Graduation”:
- The completion of your academic requirements for a degree is called graduation.
- The ceremony celebrating this achievement is called commencement.
Participation in the Commencement ceremony does not guarantee graduation. Graduation is not necessarily a requirement for participating in the Commencement ceremony. Since only one Undergraduate Commencement ceremony is held each year, December candidates, or candidates who have no more than three courses left to complete, may participate in the May Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. Please check with the Registrar’s office for your eligibility. |
