Director's Letter
November 2008
Dear Graduates,
In the Lasallian tradition, each student is at the center of our educational mission as we believe that our students are one more way that God is manifested in our midst. We not only celebrate your Commencement, but we also honor each of you for giving life and meaning to the Lasallian vocation. It is the hope of all of us who make up the Saint Mary’s College Community that life after Saint Mary’s will allow you to continue appreciating the joys of learning and provide you with numerous opportunities to bring the presence of God that you represent into the lives of others.
So, as we begin to celebrate both the ending and the beginning implied in "Commencement," remember that this celebration is focused on YOU! May the days ahead be filled with joyful anticipation, and when the "big day" arrives, may you be surrounded by those who love and support you.
At the Commencement Ceremony, you and the faculty will face each other for the last time, surrounded by your families and friends. We are your community, your family! But as you walk off the stage, you do not leave our Saint Mary's College of California family. As alumni, you will continue to be a part of the life of this College, and we will continue to grow because of your support, your wisdom, and your experience. You can continue to count on us for the same.
All of us are deeply proud of you! While we hope that we have inspired you, know that you have inspired us. Let us continue to remember that we are in the holy presence of God – and each other!
Best wishes to each of you!
