travel course requirements
Academic and Disciplinary Standing
Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at the time of registration to participate in a January Term travel course. This screening will take place the week after travel class registration. Ineligible students will have their deposits refunded.
Informational Meetings
- All travel courses have pre-registration informational meetings, and most travel classes require attendance at these meetings and the instructor's signature prior to registration.
- Almost all travel courses have at least 2 mandatory meetings after registration.
- Visiting students from other colleges may be exempted from mandatory meetings with the permission of the instructor and the January Term director.
Grading
Pass/Fail grading is not an option for travel classes.
International Travel Classes
- Freshmen are not eligible for international travel classes.
- If a course you are interested in is an international travel course, order a passport immediately. If you have a passport, it must be valid through April of 2009.
- Students traveling to foreign countries are required to show proof of health insurance that covers them outside of the United States and covers medical evacuation. If students are not so covered, then a supplemental policy must be purchased for the time they will be traveling.
Deadlines
You are required to complete payment by Monday, November 24th. In addition, you must have submitted to your instructor your signed, completed travel packet. Airline tickets will not be released to the student until both tasks have been completed. Noncompliance by a student on these matters will result in dismissal from the course.
