Types of Courses

The Jan Term Program at Saint Mary's College offers students and faculty special opportunities for academic exploration and enrichment. Four options make these opportunities possible:

1. Travel courses, specially grouped together toward the end of the catalog and posted online. International travel classes are not open to freshman. (Registration: September 28-October 1).

2. Full-Credit and quarter credit on-campus courses, described in this catalog and online. (Registration: October 19-22)
3. Independent study courses proposed by juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. See specific details outlined in this catalog. (Last day to submit proposals to Registrar’s Office is October 22)
4. Exchange student courses at the 4-1-4 colleges. A list of these colleges and some of their catalogs are available in the Jan Term Office.
