Weekend College Course
The Philosophy of Wine: An Introduction
Instructor: Chad Arnold
Course Description: What do we talk about when we talk about wine?
If you like wine, but don't feel completely comfortable with all the attending terminology and hoo-ha, this course will cover it and set you at ease in the process. We will discuss various grapes, wine-making regions, and vinification techniques. We will also look at how to buy wine in a restaurant as well as a retail shop and further how to serve, taste, and more completely enjoy the wines you drink at home. This course seeks a balance between information and insight. Each session will be centered on tasting wines from important regions - including those in France, Italy, Germany, the US, and Spain – and learning how to apply language to the experience of tasting and drinking them. Each of these points will be achieved through the weekly readings, discussions, and tastings - and really cool stories.
