how to apply
- Complete the FAFSA form prior to the start of the student's academic program. It normally takes at least 3 weeks for results to reach the College. You can complete the FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov, or you can pick up the FAFSA at any college or high school or request that a FAFSA be sent to you. The Federal school code for Saint Mary's is 001302. Once you have completed the FAFSA you must send it to the Department of Education.
- Request loan application materials from the Financial Aid Office at least five weeks prior to the time funds are needed.
- Enroll in sufficient coursework to meet the half-time requirement (5 units each term during the academic year and 3 units during the summer.)
Note: Financial aid disbursements are made only at the beginning of the fall and spring terms. An additional disbursement of aid will be scheduled at the beginning of the summer term if the student chooses enrollment during that period.

- Complete an application for admission to the School of Education
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the start of the academic program. (All students applying for Graduate Fellowships must file the FAFSA by March 2-and GPA verification forms should be submitted by that date, also.) The FAFSA is available on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Follow the instructions on the form carefully: be sure to enter "Saint Mary's College, Moraga CA (code 001302)" as a recipient of the form; teaching credential only candidates should answer NO to question 53, while all graduate degree candidates should answer YES to question 53.

- For full-time financial aid, students must be enrolled in at least 9 units of coursework in fall and spring semesters, 6 units in the summer term, and 3 units in January term. For half-time financial aid, teaching credential students must be enrolled in at least 6 units fall and spring semesters and graduate degree students must be in at least 6 units; 3 units in the summer term, and 1 unit in January term.
