how to apply
To be considered for all available forms of financial aid, a student applying for aid for the academic year will need to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). California students need to complete a GPA Verification Form used by the California Student Aid Commission to report grade point average if they wish to be considered for the Cal Grant.
- The FAFSA will be available through several sources for the coming academic year. This form will require basic financial information about the student and his/her family. There is no fee for the processing of this form. If the FAFSA is not available at your school, you may contact our Financial Aid Office for a copy or it may be filed on the web. Please note that Saint Mary's code is 001302.
- The GPA Verification Form, required by the California Student Aid Commission for students applying for the Cal Grant programs, will be available in high school guidance offices. This form should be completed with appropriate grade point average data and submitted to the Commission according to the instructions on the form by the state determined deadline (March 2).
- Some families will be selected to verify the information provided on the FAFSA. In these cases, copies of the parents' and the student's Federal tax returns will be required. The Student Aid Report, received by students in response to the FAFSA, will indicate the student's selection for the verification process.
