tuition & fees
SMC is an independent institution that receives no operating support from public funds. Student tuition fees cover approximately 3 -fourths of the cost of the general education services provided by the College. Endowment, support of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, and gifts from trustees, parents, alumni, other friends, corporations, and foundations offsets the remaining balance.
Tuition, room, board, and related fees for each term are due before the first day of class. Although tuition is billed in two installments, room and board charges for the January Term are added to the spring term billing. The Business Office will send you an electronic statement once you have registered for classes. This statement will reflect all charges known at the time, payments received, and financial aid posted to the your account. Charges such as lab fees will be billed as incurred. The Business Office sends statements at the end of each month for other charges incurred after registration (flex dollars, etc.).
The College offers a 10-Month Payment Plan for traditional undergraduate students, through which the estimated annual amount due is paid over 10 months, starting in June and ending in March. You will receive a brochure on the plan in a separate mailing. If you do not receive this information, please contact the Business Office at (925) 631-4209.
