Saint Mary's Basketball Star Shines in Beijing:
Patrick Mills in his final performance for Austrialia scores a team high of 20 points and in addition he added three steals, two assists and did not make a turnover against the best players the NBA has to offer. Saint Mary's Sophomore Named to Olympic Basketball Team:
Please join us in congratulating our own Patrick Mills, who will travel to Beijing, China to compete in the 2008 Olympics for his come country of Australia. At 19, he is the youngest member of any Olympic basketball team, and the only basketball player that is currently attending college in the United States! Saint Mary's Gaels Rugby Shines:
Although "only" a club sport, Saint Mary's rugby team played to the semi-final round of the USA Rugby Championships, losing 41-31 to UC Berkeley in a hard fought match on May 2. Robert Hass '63 wins National Book Award: Former Saint Mary's professor and U.S. poet laureate Robert Hass '63, won the 2007 National Book Award for Poetry in New York City on November 14. Read the San Francisco Chronicle article.
