FRESHMAN APPLICANTS
Students should be successful graduates of a university-preparatory secondary school curriculum and be eligible for university in their home country.
To be considered for freshman admission, your school records must show high academic achievement. Your academic records should show results equivalent to a US cumulative grade point average – CGPA – of at least 2.8. This would be at least 5 high passes on the O-level or SPM exam, or 3 high passes on the A-level or STPM exam, or 63% out of 100% on many national school leaving exams, or a first class/first division rank, or other equivalent. Please contact the admissions office directly to ask about your specific circumstances for admission.
TRANSFER APPLICANTS
Applicants should have completed a minimum 23 transferable units of post-secondary coursework to be considered a transfer applicant. Any student with post-secondary coursework cannot be considered for freshman attendance, even if you wish to pursue a different course of study. To receive transfer credit, complete course descriptions in English must be submitted after you have been admitted to the college
SAT 1 or ACT EXAMINATIONS
Saint Mary’s College does not require the SAT 1 or ACT exam for admission purposes. We do recommend students sit for either exam if they have the opportunity to do so. The SAT school code is 4675; the ACT school code is 0386.
TOEFL, IELTS, WAIVERS
If a student’s first language is not English, a TOEFL or IELTS exam result is required. If a student does not take the SAT or ACT exam, either the TOEFL or IELTS exam is required.
TOEFL scores must be 71-iBT, 197-CBT or 527-PBT; IELTS exam score must be 6 to 6.5 band for admission. The school code for TOEFL is 4675.
Either exam may be waived if the student has met one of these conditions: 1) completed 4 consecutive years of study at a US high school; 2) completed a minimum 60 transferable credit hours at a US university or college; 3) completed an educational program in a country where the medium of instruction is English; 4) completed an approved ESL program; or 5) scored 500 or above on the SAT 1 Critical Reading exam, or 22 or above on the ACT English exam.
