Saint Mary's College of California has three long-standing traditions: Catholic, Lasallian and liberal arts. Lasallian schools are led by the Christian Brothers, a religious order of Catholic educations working in partnership with thousands of lay partners. The Lasallian Core Principles include: concern for the poor and social justice, faith in the presence of God, respect for all persons, quality education, and an inclusive community. You will find all five lived out at Saint Mary's.
My work and experience over the last 13 years has allowed me to witness the transformation of many students through their four years at SMC. Some students come to Saint Mary's thinking they want to be an accountant, and figure out they really want to teach. Others come believing they aren't maybe all that creative, and figure out they have a real gift for creative writing. Others come thinking they'd never want to leave California, and decide to volunteer in a Chicago Lasallian school after they graduate.
For many of our students, the "breakthrough" isn't about figuring out who or what they want to be. It's more about coming to Saint Mary's College and learning to analyze and articulate their ideas in seminar, it's about meeting and even becoming friends with their professors - basically, it's about realizing that they are capable of so much more than they thought ever possible.
We look forward to a collaborative working relationship with you. Please do not hesitate to call or email me or any of our Admission Officers.
