Job Title: Public Information Coordinator
What is your job description? I help reporters, policymakers and the public understand transportation and land use issues. This includes writing for public documents, analyzing legislation and regulations, and answering lots of questions.
Why did you originally choose Saint Mary’s? I wanted to get involved and make an impact during college, and everyone I met when I first visited made me feel at home.
What was the best part about your college experience? Making some wonderful friends, and leaving our mark on the campus at the same time.
How did you enter the field you have chosen? I wanted to go into public service after an internship in Washington, D.C. I had some internships and jobs on campus that gave me some great experience, but I ultimately got this job after searching on my own.
How might Saint Mary’s have given you the concrete skills necessary to become successful in your career? Saint Mary's taught me how to think critically and write well—those are skills I'll always be able to use.
What is your advice to students about to enter college? Find something you're passionate about and in doing that you can integrate service into your daily life. Take the opportunity you have in this unique environment to challenge yourself, develop your passion, and impact a community.
