Join SMC President at Lake Tahoe
Join Brother President Ronald Gallagher and internationally renowned opera singer Louis Lebherz for afternoon brunch on Aug. 5 at Sierra Sunset, the 36-acre Tahoe estate of Clare and George Schmitt '65. Overlooking Mt. Tallac, the estate is familiar to many from Bonanza, a 1960s television show that was filmed in the meadow. The event costs $50 per person in advance. Sample Worldwide Wines at August Wine Tasting
The Alumni Association's Grand Wine Tasting, a fundraiser for student scholarships, will feature 50 wineries from around the world. The event will be held in the Soda Center on Aug. 20 from 1-4 pm. A yearlong celebration of the golden anniversary of the Integral Program kicks off with a daylong jubilee on Sept. 23 featuring seminars, Mass, and a banquet. Organizers are encouraging Integral alumni to send in photos and life stories, to be compiled into a printed collection for Sept. 23 attendees.   • Alumna Wins Emmy Award for LatinEyes
    Veronica Castro '00 took home an Emmy Award for "Best Public/Current Affairs Program/Special" for co-hosting LatinEyes, a weekly program showcasing the best of Hispanic culture. The award was conferred at the 35th Annual Northern California Area Emmy gala on May 20.

  • Alumnus Honored on 40th Corps Anniversary
    Wayne Silva '75 was honored at a ceremony in Iraq marking the 40th anniversary of his joining the Marine Corps, according to a July 12 article in Military.com. The 57-year-old Martinez native began his military career during the Vietnam War and is now serving as a defense officer with the Task Force Military Police in Al Asad, Iraq.
