Behind the Swoosh: Sweatshops and Social Justice
What: Former soccer coach Jim Keady claims sport shoe and clothing manufacturer Nike is guilty of exploiting its workers. What's the real story? Attend a 90-minute, interactive, multimedia presentation by Keady. The founding director of "Educating for Justice" says he spent a month in an Indonesian factory workers' slum, living on $1.25 a day, which is what he says is a typical wage for Nike's subcontracted workers. Keady's lecture will address NIKE labor practices, economic justice and fair trade.
When: Tuesday, October 26, at 7 p.m.
Where: Soda Activity Center, Saint Mary's College of California, 1928 St. Mary's Rd., Moraga
