Alumni Summer Fellowship Program

The Alumni Summer Fellowship Program is designed to allow current Saint Mary’s undergraduate students the opportunity to experience faith, service, and community in the example of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. This is an immersion living/learning program designed to advance the student’s professional development, leadership development, and growing awareness of important social issues. The Alumni Summer Fellow will be positively changed through learning and serving and as a result become an agent for positive social change.

Summer 2013 Program Overview:

One qualified Saint Mary’s student will apply to and be selected to participate in the Alumni Summer Fellowship Program. The student will serve for 8 weeks (JUNE 1 - JULY 27) with a community organization that promotes the common good in Palmer, Alaska OR Denver, Colorado. The students service will directly or indirectly empower and benefit those who are economically disadvantaged.

The fellow will live in Palmer or Denver with a SMC Alumni family or independently. A CILSA staff member coordinates and facilitates the Alumni Summer Fellowship experience, maintaining regular contact with the Fellows and community partners. Fellows are expected to devote 40 hours each week and are not allowed to engage in any other employment during the fellowship period. Because the fellowship experience may impinge upon students’ ability to earn money during the summer to pay for school expenses in the fall, each fellow will receive a $2,000 service award upon completion. March 11: Application Deadline

March 12-13: Interview Stage 1: Students interview with CILSA Staff & Student/s

March 14: Notification of conditional acceptance (or regret) to Micah Fellowship Program

March 18-25: Interview Stage 2: Students interview with Community Partner Organization/s

March 29: Notification of final acceptance (or regret) to Micah Fellowship Program

May 11: Dinner & Pre-Orientation Meeting (6:00pm-8:30pm)

June 1 & 2: Program Begins / Orientation

June 3 - July 26: Micah Summer Fellowship Program

July 27: Program Concludes / Debrief
