Bonner Leaders work with community partner organizations throughout the Bay Area and serve as campus-based social action leaders. In 12 years, over 125 Bonner Leaders have fostered connections between SMC and the Bay Area, worked directly with the poor and marginalized, transformed themselves, and created a culture of service and social justice education at the college.
For the 2013-2014 school year, the Campus Bonner Leaders will be restructuring their program in hope of promoting more awareness and change on the St. Mary’s College campus. Using a scaffolding model, Campus Bonner Leaders will not only engage in their own social justice endeavors but also aid St. Mary’s students in organizing and leading a variety of service projects on and off campus. All of the positions for St. Mary’s students fall under the Campus Bonner Leaders H.E.L.P acronym, which includes Health, Environment, Learning and education, and Poverty.
