The Catholic Voice reported on efforts by student leaders in the College's Mission and Ministry Center to support Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The newspaper for the Oakland diocese interviewed Ali Carrroll '14, a student ambassador for CRS and one of several organizers of the Saint Mary's CRS Rice Bowl effort. A faith formation activity, Rice Bowl is a Lenten program that encourages participants to pray together; give things up, or fast, learn about the challenges of hunger and poverty around the world and to make donations to those in need. Carroll spoke to the Catholic Voice about the fund raising efforts planned for the campus Rice Bowl effort and a Mission and Ministry Center sponsored event on March 6, 2013 at 7p.m. that features Catholic Relief Service worker Thomas Awiapo. The international Catholic Relief Services worker will speak about CRS initiatives in Ghana. Awiapo's discussion is free, and open to the public.
