As you may have read in other communications, the Computer and Technology Services (CaTS) department is changing its name to IT Services (ITS). While CaTS has served well as a memorable name for established members of the SMC community, this change is due to a desire to have a more standard and recognizable name. It is our hope that we will be easier to find, thus improving our outreach to serve and support those who are new to the community.

In the coming weeks and months, IT Services staff will be replacing the CaTS name and logo in the many places it exists with the IT Services name and the following logo:                                                          

Please note that official communications involving a security threat will always include this logo accompanied by a unique and descriptive signature to assist the community in determining authenticity. We hope that this approach will help to differentiate our communications from phishing scams that have an intent to fool community members into believing an email or other communication is from the IT Services department.

While you will be seeing the CaTS name and logo disappear, you will be hearing us refer to ourselves as IT Services. Thank you in advance for supporting this departmental name change.
