International Education Week
International Education Week (IEW) is upon us! International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. International Education Week, November 12 to November 16, 2012
Monday, 11/12 to Friday 11/16: Around the World in One Glance, Display Case at the St. Mary's Library
In collaboration with St. Mary's Library, the Center for International Programs and International Club, we will be displaying cultural items around the world in the Display Case at the Library during the IEW! We are requesting to borrow items from faculty, staff and students that represent your culture, cultures you've visited, or even cultures you are interested in. We will display your name, where the item is from, and brief description of the item. The items will be cataloged and returned to you after the event!
Monday, 11/12 to Tuesday 11/13: (This is a closed event)
Undergraduate Admission office will be hosting a group of 34 students and 5 teachers including one Christian Brother from a Lasallian high school in Chihuahua, Mexico. Potential future Gaels and guests will be spending time with St. Mary's students during the two day event visiting classes, touring the campus, participate in a panel discussion with the international students learning it about "life in the U.S. as an international student" and etc. Please welcome the students when you see them around campus!
Tuesday, 11/13: Home Abroad, A Global Mixer on Tuesday, November 13th, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the Intercultural Center's Delphine Lounge.
Your very own SMC Study Abroad Peer Mentors will be hosting a mixer between international and national students on campus, in an effort to learn the secrets of each region, to make a new friend, and to discover what it's like to live abroad--from /both/ perspectives! Come get an edge on traveling and studying abroad and attend the Global Mixer!
Wednesday, 11/14 from 12:40 pm to 2 pm at Hagerty Lounge: Study, Travel and Teach English in Korea!
In celebration of International Education Week, the Center for International Program will be hosting representatives from Consulate General of the Republic of Korea who will be providing information session about its culture, future potential study abroad opportunities and employment opportunities after graduation. Participants will be able to learn fun facts about Korea as well as sample Korean music and food!
Wednesday, 11/14 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hagerty Lounge: International Potluck Dinner
Co-Sponsored by Department of Modern Languages, The Center for International Programs, and International Club. Join us for a collaborative dining event with the Modern Languages Department's students and faculty, along with members of our international student community. Make a special dish from your country and share it with faculty and your friends.
