On Saturday, May 7th, 2015, Saint Mary's writing advisers will be leading four panels during the Northern California Writing Centers Association's Conference, held this year in Fresno:

“Using Vernacular Language to Sail through Brainstorms” ~ David Fujii, CJ Cosas, Shane McCarthy, Annie Keig, and Andy Kirkpatrick.

“Advising Nemo: Looking at Minimalist Advising from the Adviser’s Perspective” ~ Margaret Birgen, Madison Chastain, Heather Marsh, and Rebecca Patterson.

“ ‘Safe Zones’: Threatening & Nonthreatening Spaces” ~ Holland Enke, Ruth Sylvester, Caitlin Wire, and Amanda Muna.

“ ‘If you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them’: Collaborative Leadership and Empowerment in the Writing Center” ~ Madeline Bell, Reyna Olegario, Tereza Joy Kramer, Joe Zeccardi, and Jaq Davis.

On March 17, 2015, CWAC will be hosting the Awards for Excellence in Writing in Hagerty Lounge to honor the winners and honorable mentions for the Spectrum and Newman awards.

 “Master Jedi 101: the Pedagogy of Minimalism and Writing in the Disciplines” ~ CJ Cosas, David Fujii, and Krista Varela.

“Matching Missions: Aligning your Center with the Philosophies and Needs of your Community” ~ Steven Colson, Jaquelyn Davis, Holland Enke, and Reyna Olegario.

“ ‘Stop, Collaborate, and Listen’ to Each Other: Guiding Students to Experience the Power of Small-group Writing Circles” ~ Audrey Agot and Somel Jammu, Tereza Joy Kramer, and Brittany Watson.

“The Burkean Whiteboard: Inspiring Creativity and Collaboration Among Students and Advisers” ~ Madeline Bell, Bridget Hanna, Samantha Ricci, and Victoria Stringer.

In April 2013, Saint Mary's writing advisers participated in the Northern California Writing Centers Association's Conference for the first time. We presented two panels in Sacramento.

On Monday, April 28, 2014, CWAC and the Honors Program hosted the "Mad Tea Party Palooza." People joined us for great themed food, fun, and writing activities!
