While walk-ins are welcome, we often get busy and have a hard time accommodating all of the students who request sessions. Making an appointment is a great way to ensure an hour is set aside for you. Just give us a call at (925) 631-4684.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Do I have to call in order to make an appointment?
A: Appointments can be made over the phone or in person, here in De La Salle 110. If you call during our open hours, we can work with you immediately to find the best time for you. Otherwise, please leave a message with your name and phone number, and we will call you back to schedule your appointment.
Q: Can I request a specific Writing Adviser?
A: Of course! Just mention that you would like to work with someone in particular, and give us his or her name.
Q: Can I request a two-hour session?
A: Yes. Availability will vary.
Q: When I make an appointment, why do you ask me so many questions?
A: We ask for your phone number so we can contact you if anything happens on our end, for example, if a Writing Adviser is sick and we need to move your appointment. We ask about the class or topic that you are writing about so we can prepare for your session.
Q: Is there a penalty for missing an appointment?
A: There is no "penalty" for missing an appointment because we've found that, in our respectful community here at Saint Mary's, it is very rare for anyone to miss an appointment without calling us beforehand.
If you are unable to make your appointment, please let us know quickly, so we can serve another student who might otherwise be turned away.
