While walk-ins are welcome, we often get busy and have a hard time accommodating all of the students who request sessions. Making an appointment is a great way to ensure an hour is set aside for you. Just give us a call at (925) 631-4684.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I have to call in order to make an appointment?
Appointments can be made over the phone or in person, here in Dante 202. If you call during our open hours (see home page), we can work with you immediately to find the best time for you. Otherwise, please leave a message with your name and phone number, and we will call you back to schedule your appointment.
Can I request a specific Writing Adviser?
Of course! If we forget to ask, just mention that you would like to work with someone in particular and give us his or her name.
Can I request a two-hour session?
Yes. If you feel like you would really like the extra time in a session, we can schedule you for a two-hour session. We just ask that you definitely make this kind of appointment ahead of time.
When I make an appointment, why do you ask me so many questions?
We ask for your phone number so that we can contact you if anything happens on our end. For example, if a Writing Adviser is sick and we need to schedule you with someone else. We ask about the class or topic that you are writing about so we can prepare for your session.
Is there a penalty for missing an appointment?
There is no "penalty" for missing an appointment because we've found that, in our respectful community here at Saint Mary's, it is very rare for anyone to miss an appointment without calling us beforehand. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can serve another student who might otherwise be turned away.
