The incoming freshman class includes 30 Presidential Scholars, the highest number in the College's history and more than double the number last year. To qualify for this distinction, applicants must have at least a 3.8 grade-point average and an SAT score of 1350. The number of incoming freshmen designated as Honors at Entrance has also jumped, to 77 from 61 last year.
Based on deposits received, the Class of 2009 is also shaping up to be the largest class ever, with more than 650 incoming freshmen. Nearly 41 percent identify themselves as either African American, American Indian, Asian American, or Latino. The class is projected to be 62 percent women and 38 percent men.
