Colleen D. (Condon) Marquez is publishing her first children’s book, A Gift for Little Tree, a parable about apples, adoption and love, through Cupola Press. The story is about a fruitless apple tree, an abundant orchard, one wise farmer and the greatest gift of all. Colleen wrote the book 19 years ago as a gift for her friends when they adopted their first child. As she wrote it, Colleen’s own heart was changed to embrace adoption, and 11 months after writing the story, she and her husband, Mickey Marquez ’79, adopted their daughter. Nine years later they adopted their son. Colleen is the director of outreach and development for Bethany Christian Services-SF Bay Area. Colleen and Mickey live in Pleasant Hill, California, with their two children, now ages 18 and 9.
