Meet the Staff!
Dai To, Ph.D., Director
Dr. To is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and received her doctorate from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. As Director, she is available for consultation to Facutly, Staff and family members to address any concerns or questions about how to intervene and help a student. She also provides individual and group psychotherapy with an emphasis on First Generation College Students. Whether in her own clinical work or supervising the work of trainees, Dr. To is informed by her understanding of people both psychologically and socioculturally. She has a deep appreciation for the developmental challenges of college students and understands that these challenges are often complicated by familial, cultural demands and expectations as well as internal conflicts. Dr. To works with students to navigate this important time of transition and growth through providing support and insight oriented therapy that will allow students to understand the connections between their emotions, behavior and academic success.
Laura Williams, Psy.D., C.G.P., Associate Director/Director of Training
Dr. Williams received her doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. She interned at the Wright Institute of Los Angeles and Whittier College Counseling Center. She pursued a specialty in college counseling with a postdoctoral residency at the University of Rochester's Counseling and Psychological Services and has worked at various college counseling centers for the past 20 yearts. Dr. Williams is available for consultation with Faculty, Staff and parents who are concerned about a student. As a licensed Psychologist, she provides individual and group psychotherapy and is a Certified Group Psychotherapist offering groups for grief and loss, rape and sexual abuse survivors and those desiring personal growth. As Director of Training, she directs and supervises the clinical training program in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Dr. Williams' theoretical orientation is an integration of feminist, psychoanalytic and relational theories.
Cynthia Cutshall, Ph.D., Staff Psychologist/Outreach Coordinator
Dr. Cutshall received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa, and she is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of California. As Staff Psychologist, she provides individual, group, and couples therapy to Saint Mary’s students and consultation to Faculty, Staff, and family members. Dr. Cutshall incorporates elements of psychodynamic and relational theories into her work with students with the goal of fostering and supporting their emotional well-being, healthy relationships, and academic success. She also collaborates with the Training Director to provide clinical supervision and didactic instruction to graduate student therapists who work within the Counseling Center. Lastly, as Outreach Coordinator she collaborates with the Director to plan, oversee, and implement a comprehensive psychoeducational program designed to meet the needs of the culturally diverse student population at Saint Mary’s College. Jennifer Paige, Psy.D., Postdoctoral Resident
Dr. Paige received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. She is completing her post-doctoral residency under the clinical supervision of Dr. Williams, Dr. Cutshall, and Dr. To. For the last several years, Dr. Paige has focused her clinical training on working with college students, including completing a year of practicum training at SMC. Additionally, she completed her pre-doctoral internship at California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA. Her clinical interests include college-related issues, life transitions, disordered eating, addiction and recovery, concerns regarding gender and sexual identity, issues related to creativity, and serious mental illness. Dr. Paige approaches psychotherapy from a relational psychodynamic perspective, with special attention paid to social and cultural issues.
Heidi Tend, Administrative Assistant
Heidi brings more than 18 years of logistics and administrative experience. Prior to joining Saint Mary's, she served as Logistics Manager for EPC, where she managed such projects as courseware curriculum development, training certification and training coordination. When you come to the Counseling Center, Heidi will be your first point of contact. She will help to navigate you through the process of filling out a questionnaire and setting up an appointment to see a therapist. In her free time, Heidi volunteers at a local animal shelter and has two therapy dogs, which make frequent visits to the SMC campus.

Kristen Moore Glatstein, M.A., Predoctoral Therapist
Kristen is a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at The Wright Institute in Berkeley. She is currently fulfilling requirements for her pre-doctoral internship at the Counseling Center under the clinical supervision of Dr. Williams and Dr. Cutshall. Her interests include: anxiety, depression, relationships, eating disorders, emotional regulation and substance-use issues. Kristen practices integrative psychotherapy with a contemporary psychodynamic emphasis and works with students to establish a warm, empathic and collaborative relationship to facilitate insight, growth and healing.
Golnaz Fortune, M.A., Predoctoral Therapist
Golnaz is a 5th year Clinical PsyD. student at California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She is currently fulfilling requirements for internship at the Counseling Center under the clinical supervision of Dr. Williams and Dr. Cutshall. Her interests include forensic psychology, oppositional behaviors, anxiety, at risk populations, mentoring youths, and working with adolescents. She practices in a culturally sensitive manner, with an emphasis on an integrative approach including psychodynamic, narrative, and cognitive behavior therapy. Golnaz is also fluent in Farsi and can conduct therapeutic services accordingly.
Scott Newcombe, M.A., Practicum Therapist
Scott is a 3rd year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. He is practicing under the clinical supervision of Dr. Williams. Some of his interests include anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, depression, substance abuse, and helping one achieve personal growth. Scott practices integrative psychotherapy with a psychodynamic emphasis.
